Instead of a conference theme, consider your proposal on your interpretation of the image, above.
We want to provide an open forum to all those interested in any area of additional language studies and academic writing and communication, including digital writing tools, multiliteracies, plurilingualism, and intercultural writing supports. Questions for consideration may include, but are not limited to:
Pedagogy and practice for multilingual classrooms
ELL pedagogy relating to globalized students
Learning community writing practice
Technology in writing practice relating to ELLs
Multimodal approaches to ELL writing instruction and practice
Considerations of general teaching and learning practice to ELLs
Successful submissions will include immediate and practical applications with pedagogical and theoretical foundations that conference attendees can use within their academic communities. We encourage participation from all academic fields and disciplines.
Session Formats The 2019 AWELL Conference consists primarily of 60-minute concurrent sessions. Participants may propose one of the following types of presentation:
Panel Presentation: 3 to 4 presentations of 15-20 minutes each on a specific theme or question.
Individual Presentation: 15 to 20-minute presentation (that will be combined into a panel by the program chairs).
Workshop: A participatory session that engages attendees in active learning.
Works-in-Progress: Roundtable discussions where presenters briefly (5-10 minutes) discuss one of their current (in progress) writing center research projects and then receive feedback.
Please provide a 150-200-word synopsis and a 700 maximum word abstract. Please also provide at least 3 scholarly references.
