The Training Studio

Saint Mary’s learning-centred commitment brings our community together as a learning organization, where staff members are continuously learning through training opportunities. We have a strong tradition of a university that provides excellent service, with fully engaged staff, faculty, and students.

The Studio for Teaching and Learning is committed to helping staff continue to learn and grow in response to the challenges and opportunities we encounter in a rapidly changing environment. We dedicate resources to ensure that staff receive the training, professional development, coaching and mentoring to make them — and Saint Mary’s — successful.

Professional Development

Understanding the professional development needs of the Saint Mary’s community is important. We support initiatives and training for faculty, students, and staff as requested by Deans, department Chairpersons, and the university administrators. Check out our events calendar to see which open sessions have already been scheduled, browse our growing session catalogue to see some of what’s already available, or contact us for customized training.

To arrange a consultation, or a workshop customized for your team, please contact us at studio@smu.ca. For one-on-one customized training to upgrade technical skills, contact the Software & Application Support Centre at sas@smu.ca.

Community of Practice

Communities of Practice

The Studio can help you expand your knowledge and skills by meeting and sharing ideas with other staff across the university. In this learning environment, you can reflect on the work that you do and expand your thinking by engaging in conversations and new activities.

If you have a suggestion for a professional community of practice, or would like to lead or join one, please email studio@smu.ca.
