These comprehensive recommendations, developed by the Education Standard Development Committee and approved by the Accessibility Advisory Board, propose an accessibility standard in education, emphasizing the crucial role of inclusivity in adapting to societal changes. Recognizing education as a human right, the document outlines the necessity of eliminating both structural and systemic barriers to ensure equal access for all. This proposal contributes to the ongoing efforts for a more inclusive, equitable, and accessible education system across seven sectors, ranging from early years to adult learning, adhering to the principles of the Nova Scotia Accessibility Act. These recommendations amplify existing legislation and build upon current governmental policy and framework documents.
