Work with our writing support specialists

Our writing support specialists have advanced degrees and are experienced writers. Sessions are designed to help in the development, organization, and writing of graduate-level projects, including honour’s theses, MRPs, capstone projects, Master’s and PhD theses in any discipline, as well as course work. We will work with you any stage of writing: beginning, nearing completion, or resuming after time away.

  • Sessions (usually 1.5 to 2 hours) are available by appointment.

  • Distance students and faculty off campus are encouraged to book a Teams session

Join a graduate student writing group

We have prepared series of workshops to guide you through the transition to online university learning. Learn how to access your online courses, use class conferencing tools, and find out other academic digital resources.   • The centre’s specialists will work with you to:

    Develop and determine a direction for your writing; strengthen your writing; and identify reoccurring grammatical errors or structural problems

    If you don't know where you are going wrong with your writing, we can help.

  • The centre does not:

    Proofread or edit papers during tutorials

    Comment on the content

    Comment on a graded paper

    Comment on a professor or instructor

    Offer suggested grades for a paper or assignment

  • University ID

    Your assignment instructions or question(s), uploaded to the appointment booking.

    A copy of your writing, uploaded to the appointment booking.

    Any notes or previously marked assignments (if applicable), as this may facilitate the specialist’s understanding of your specific needs.

    Questions of specific areas that you feel need improvement.

  • Scheduled sessions with support specialist are 1.5 to 2 hours.

    Shorter sessions are still available with our writing tutors (50 minutes scheduled, 20 minutes drop-in).
