Accessible Teaching and Learning

Nova Scotia Post-Secondary Accessibility Working Group

This guide advocates for universally accessible learning spaces and materials, emphasising the role of students with disabilities as partners in learning. It offers an overview of Nova Scotia's accessibility laws, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and strategies for teaching students facing barriers. The guide also includes engaging learning assets like videos, infographics, and checklists. The materials inspire educators to adapt their professional practice at their own pace, fostering iterative changes in the learning environment.

A Guide for Faculty and Staff: Five Ways to Support Institutional Accessibility

This Saint Mary’s University guide, developed for National Accessibility Week, empowers faculty and staff with five practical steps to enhance learner accessibility at the institution. The guide underlines the significance of familiarising with the Fred Smithers Centre for Student Accessibility (FSCSA) and understanding the broad scope of disability. It also encourages evaluating inclusivity in every aspect, referring students to the FSCSA, and continuous learning about accessibility. The document offers various resources for further learning and advocates for a collaborative approach to building a more inclusive learning environment.
