The New Faculty Welcome Day is designed to introduce incoming faculty to the values, structures, and community of Saint Mary’s University. The day provides a holistic orientation: grounding colleagues in SMU’s institutional values, offering insights from senior leadership and Faculty Deans, and highlighting the distinctive cultures and priorities of each Faculty.

Through panels with students and faculty, participants gain authentic perspectives on teaching, learning, and student life, while sessions from The Studio for Teaching and Learning highlight the supports and resources available to them. The overall aim is to help new faculty build connections, navigate their academic roles with confidence, and feel part of the wider Santamarian community from the start.
