Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW)

  • Saint Mary's University Halifax, B3H 1G3 (map)

The Studio for Teaching and Learning is excited to extend an invitation to SMU faculty members to participate in an upcoming Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW) program offering. This workshop is internationally recognized and participants involved in this December event will receive the first of three ISW certification offerings. More detailed information on the ISW network is provided in the following link: https://goo.gl/IGk2OM

The intention of this event is to foster a better understanding of the benefits of ISW at SMU and begin to cultivate a stronger community base dedicated to teaching excellence. As such, there is no cost for participating for SMU faculty participants. In line with promoting the benefits of this well established program, the following link offers an ISW impact results study published by the Higher Education Quality Council of Ontario: https://goo.gl/ghbGxN

In order to proceed with this offering, we are currently calling for participants who would be available to attend this 3.5-day event. This event will begin with a half day on the morning of Friday, December 15th followed by three full days on December 18th, 19th and 20th. Ideal participants would be willing to follow through with ISW facilitator training in the Spring of 2018.

As places are limited for this program, we are encouraging interested participants to RSVP as soon as possible. We will follow up with a more detailed schedule of our planned event and some additional pre-workshop information.

If you have any questions about this program, please contact William Kay directly at: william.kay@smu.ca

Thanks for your consideration, and we look forward to engaging with you!
