Facilitating Asynchronous Discussions
Tuesday, November 10 | 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Asynchronous discussions allow students to reflect and consider their contribution within a border discussion or debate. As such they have the potential to foster a more democratic and comprehensive peer-to-peer engagement. Discussions can be incorporated within the full range of course formats including in-person, synchronous, asynchronous and blended. The Brightspace tool supports a full range of functionality (text, image and media) which affords flexibility on how students can share their thoughts and insights.
At end of session participants are expected to:
·navigate the discussions tool in Brightspace and be aware of range of features
· assess various workflows in relation faculty to student and student to contribution
develop strategies by which to support and assess learning
