Friday, 22 May 2026, 10am-2pm, B115 (Writing Centre)
In this Writing Centre workshop, graduate and honours students will explore the benefits of a question-focused vs date-focused approach to summer planning. Students will not only get tips for summer writing, but also craft a plan based on their research question that will help them get started and commit to their summer writing goals. Students will also share their goals, work plan and individual work with other graduate and honours students to practice how asking questions can help them engage meaningfully in academic discussion and offer focused and constructive feedback. Whether you are working on your thesis or thesis proposal, or, indeed, a scholarly article, this workshop is for you.
This event provides:
Three 60-minute blocks of instruction and individual writing
Planning chart
Individual check-ins with graduate writing tutors
Academic writing resources
For students planning for a summer of dedicated and focused writing, this workshop offers a chance to get the ball rolling and work with accountability, camaraderie, and minimal distraction. Bring your own lunch; small snacks and coffee/tea will be provided.
