Saint Mary’s University hosts International Education Week every year to highlight the important role that education plays in fostering global citizenship. This year we are delighted to present a wide variety of events to showcase intercultural learning here on campus as well as exciting international opportunities for students, faculty, and staff.
Monday, November 4
Day of the Dead: Film Screening and Cultural Celebration
Hosted by: Dr Erica Fischer
The Day of the Dead Community Altar will be on display at the entrance of the Patrick Power Library to honour the memory of departed friends, family, and beloved members of the SMU community. Join us for a screening of "Mexico: Day of the Dead" (30 mins) followed by the serving of Pan de Muertos and a face-painting demonstration.

Korean Culture Café

Ancient Studies Field Schools: Villa of Titus and Metaponto
Hosted by: Dr. Sveva Savelli & Dr. Myles McCallum
Join Dr. Myles McCallum to hear about an archaeological study of a 2,200-year-old rural complex that may once have been a residence of the Flavian Emperor Titus: the Villa of Titus in Castel Sant’Angelo, Italy. Dr. Sveva Savelli will then describe archaeological excavations at the Iron Age Indigenous site of Incoronata “greca” (Pisticci), which was eventually incorporated into the territory of the Greek city of Metaponto.

From the savannahs of Kenya and Tanzania to the snow-capped mountains of Ethiopia to the postcard-perfect beaches of the Seychelles, East Africa includes some of the most beautiful and culturally-rich landscapes on earth. The 14th Annual Stories from Overseas
