Developing rubrics - UDL topic spotlight

Wednesday 14th 10-10:30am (30 minutes) | Click here to join via Zoom

Facilitated by: Paul Maher & Amanda Saoud (Coordinator of the Writing Centre)

Rubrics are an especially useful means to provide clarity to students on the range of expectations associated with course assessments. They also provide clarity to educators on what criteria are to be measured within assessments and learning activities. Once developed rubrics can be a powerful way to optimise your process of grading student work and providing timely feedback. This session will be useful to those getting started with the Rubric Tool in Brightspace, as well as for those looking to refine their approach on developing and mapping assessment criteria across a range of performance levels.

This topic spotlight will review several strategies associated with the UDL checkpoints to heighten salience of goals & objectives plus increase mastery orientated feedback within the Effort & Persistence guidelines (8.1). Participants are invited to stay beyond the session time for time for an open discussion. If format or timing does not suit, consider instead a one-on-one consultation with Paul Maher.
