In collaboration with the Special District of Science, Technology, and Innovation of Medellín, the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana has been designated as the host of the 59th International Congress of Americanists (ICA), to be held from July 5 to 9, 2027.
The ICA is the oldest multidisciplinary congress in the world dedicated to the study of the Americas, with more than 150 years of uninterrupted history.
Since its first edition, held in 1875 in Nancy (France) at the initiative of the Société Américaine de France, it has focused on the social sciences and humanities, in constant dialogue with other fields of knowledge. Each edition brings together an average of 4,000 participants from more than 60 nationalities, making it a key platform for showcasing regional academic production and fostering global knowledge exchange.
