Mitacs Globalink Research Award (GRA) program February 2023 updates

1. Aix-Marseille Université (France — travel to Canada and/or travel from Canada)

Travel to Canada: full-time master’s and PhD students or postdoctoral fellows

Travel from Canada: full-time senior undergraduate, master’s and PhD students, or postdoctoral fellows

  • Co-funding: No financial contribution is required from the Canadian institution

  • Award amount: $6,000

1. National Research Foundation (NRF) Korea (Korea — travel to Canada)

  • Dates: February 23, 2023 to March 23, 2023 at 5 p.m. PT

  • Level: Full-time master’s and PhD students, or postdoctoral fellows

  • Themes: All fields of Science and Technology, Interdisciplinary studies involving S&T and Humanities or Social Sciences

  • Other requirements: N/A

  • Eligible institutions: All universities in Korea

  • Co-funding: No financial contribution is required from the Canadian institution

  • Award amount: $9,000 to $15,000 (approximately)

  • Application process and submission: Submit to NRF (website accessible from Korea only https://www.iris.go.kr/main.do)

 

2. Consejo de Rectores de las Universidades Chilenas (CRUCH-FUDEA) (Chile — travel to Canada and/or travel from Canada)

Call for Globalink Mentors

Mitacs is hiring a Globalink mentor to help welcome Mitacs Globalink Program interns (from countries such as Australia, Brazil, China, Colombia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Mexico, Pakistan, Taiwan, Tunisia, Ukraine, the UK and the US) who will complete a 12-week research internship at a Canadian university in Summer 2023.

 

Terms of employment:

  • Summer 2023

  • $20/hour

  • 10 hours/week

  • One mentorship position at SMU

Mitacs Globalink Research Award Program: Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS)

Below are the most recent updates to the Mitacs Globalink Research Award (GRA) program. These updates pertain to a call for proposals with our partner Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), a new version of the application now available and an update regarding invoicing of projects through the allocation stream.

 

Current opportunities — call for proposals:

 

1. Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) (Japan – travel from Canada)

  • Dates: September 29, 2022 to November 30, 2022 at 5 p.m. PT

  • Level: Full-time master's and PhD students, postdoctoral fellows

  • Themes: All disciplines

  • Other requirements: Interns must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada

  • Eligible institutions: complete list here: Japanese national, public or private universities, Inter-University Research Institute Corporation, National Laboratories, Prefectural Research Institutes, Independent Administrative Institutions, Non-Profit Organizations, Corporations etc.

  • Co-funding: No financial contribution is required from the Canadian university

  • Award amount: JSPS arranges round-trip airfare and insurance. Mitacs and JSPS provide an allowance for the student or postdoctoral fellow (equivalent to 534,000 yen in total). Host supervisors are eligible for a research support allowance.

  • Duration: 9 weeks

  • Internship dates: Projects must take place during the period set by the JSPS. The dates for the 2023 program are early June to mid-August, 2023. More details can be found here. Note that dates are tentative and may be subject to change.

Globalink Research Internship

Globalink Research Internship (GRI) is now accepting faculty project submissions for Summer 2022.

Deadline to submit projects is June 9, 2021 at 1 p.m. PT. Submit projects here.
 

Mitacs Globalink Research Internship is a competitive initiative for international undergraduates from the following countries and regions: Australia, Brazil, China, Colombia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Mexico, Taiwan, Tunisia, Ukraine, United Kingdom and the United States. From May to October of each year, top-ranked applicants participate in a 12-week research internship under the supervision of Canadian university faculty members in a variety of academic disciplines, from science, engineering and mathematics to the humanities and social sciences.

Mitacs Globalink Research Internships are currently available at over 70 universities across Canada. For more information, please see our list of academic partners.

Globalink Research Internship alumni interested in returning to Canada for graduate studies are eligible for the Globalink Graduate Fellowship.​
