Opportunity to submit a proposal to a virtual conference in Germany

 

Konstanz University of Applied Sciences, a German partner university of Saint Mary’s, is hosting an international conference, “Universities of Tomorrow: Global, Interdisciplinary, Digitized, Sustainable” (UNITO)”, on November 4 2021. They are accepting a proposal from researchers and teaching staff from all academic disciplines as well as practitioners and International Office members on innovative ideas around interdisciplinarity, digitalization and sustainability. If you plan to submit a proposal or if you have any questions, please contact the Global Learning and Intercultural Support Office at global@smu.ca. Proposal submission deadline is August 31 2021.

Globalink Research Internship (GRI) is now accepting faculty project submissions for Summer 2022.

Deadline to submit projects is June 9, 2021 at 1 p.m. PT. Submit projects here.
 

Mitacs Globalink Research Internship is a competitive initiative for international undergraduates from the following countries and regions: Australia, Brazil, China, Colombia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Mexico, Taiwan, Tunisia, Ukraine, United Kingdom and the United States. From May to October of each year, top-ranked applicants participate in a 12-week research internship under the supervision of Canadian university faculty members in a variety of academic disciplines, from science, engineering and mathematics to the humanities and social sciences.

Mitacs Globalink Research Internships are currently available at over 70 universities across Canada. For more information, please see our list of academic partners.

Globalink Research Internship alumni interested in returning to Canada for graduate studies are eligible for the Globalink Graduate Fellowship.​

Mohn Prize 2022 – Call for nominations

UiT The Arctic University of Norway, Academia Borealis - The Academy of Sciences and Letters of Northern Norway, and Tromsø Research Foundation welcome nominations for The International Mohn Prize for Outstanding Research Related to the Arctic (The Mohn Prize).

The Mohn Prize, which carries a cash award of 2 million NOK (approximately 195 000 €), is awarded biennially. 

The prize is awarded to an individual or to a research group who has published excellent research related to the Arctic, who holds a leading position internationally in his/her/their field of research, and who has brought to light groundbreaking new knowledge related to nature and/or culture in the Arctic.

Nominees for the prize will be evaluated by an international scientific committee.

The recipient of the Mohn Prize will be announced in October 2021, and the award ceremony will take place in Tromsø in early 2022.

We hereby invite you (or your society or institution) to nominate candidates for the Mohn Prize 2022.

Nominations should be submitted using the nomination form available at mohnprize.no.

The deadline for nominations is the 31st of July 2021.

Virtual Exchange in Lebanon, Fall 2020/Winter 2021

Study Arabic Online at the Arabic Language and Culture Program of Lebanese American University this fall or winter!

SINARC, the Arabic language and culture program at the Lebanese American University (LAU), offers intensive courses in Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) and the Levantine dialect at all levels. The program’s unique success is underpinned by academic rigor, cultural immersion and personalized attention.

Study Arabic Online is a new SINARC program that simulates a classroom setting using all the latest tools for effective virtual language acquisition. The program provides a number of credit-based and non-credit based course options on various levels for students interested in Arabic as a second language only and not toward earning a degree at LAU. All courses are organized and divided according to ACTFL standards and are delivered using various online learning platforms.

Cultural immersion experiences include virtual excursions, tours and films about:

  • Arab and Roman ruins in Baalbek

  • Cedars of Lebanon

  • Historical palaces in Beiteddine and Deir al-Qamar

  • Sidon/Tyre

  • Beirut city tour

  • Byblos: the oldest inhabited city in the world (UNESCO World Heritage site)

  • Beirut National Museum

  • Qadisha Valley

Upcoming Panel Discussions about Brazilian Society

PUC-Rio`s Central Coordination for International Cooperation would like to invite you to join University experts from different areas to discuss relevant topics related to the current Brazilian scenario.

There will be four panels on different topics about Brazilian Issues. Experts from different areas, such as Law, Sociology, Geography, Engineering, International Relations, Architecture, Communication and Political Science, will be together to discuss relevant topics to the current Brazilian scenario.

The first round of discussions will involve current themes being debated by PUC-Rio professors from different Departments. Sessions will be conducted in English and each panel will take approximately 50 minutes. The session will be a live one, allowing the interaction between panelists and audience previously enrolled.
