Global Affairs Canada is pleased to invite you to a panel discussion entitled Creating Opportunities Amid Crisis: A focus on youth and young women. Join them on November 28, 2:00 to 3:00 PM Eastern to hear from youths and United Nations experts about:

  • what governments, the private sector and young people are doing to create sustainable livelihoods for youth

  • innovative approaches to unlocking opportunities in the Sahel

  • the work of Generation Unlimited, including its innovate public-private-youth-partnerships model

This event will be moderated by Antoine Chevrier, Assistant Deputy Minister, Sub-Saharan Africa Branch, and will include the following panelists:

  • Abdoulaye Mar Dieye, United Nation’s Special Coordinator for development in the Sahel

  • Kevin Frey, Chief Executive Officer, Generation Unlimited

  • Nadi Albino, Deputy Director, Partnerships, Generation Unlimited

  • Samanjar Chowdhury, Generation Unlimited Young People’s Action Team member, Bangladesh

  • Nyabuol Biel Gang, youth member of the Refugee Education Council, South Sudan

2023 Oxfam Canada x Canadian Centre for Gender and Sexual Diversity Youth Summit

Applications are now open to join the 2023 Oxfam Canada x Canadian Centre for Gender and Sexual Diversity Youth Summit – a multi-day in-person interactive and intensive training for activists, community leaders and passionate individuals from across Canada packed full of workshops, inspiring speakers, and breakout sessions. The event will take place February 24-26 2023 in Ottawa, with all expenses paid for travel and accommodation. The Youth Summit will focus on building skills and knowledge on sexual and reproductive health and rights and comprehensive sexuality education, including how to advocate to politicians, anti-racist and decolonial approaches to this work, art for activism, and international perspectives on these topics. Application deadline is November 28, 2022.

Lunch with Dr. Caroline Hossein

The lunch on Friday, October 14, will give students a chance to meet Dr. Hossein, chat about her talk, and learn about possible graduate studies opportunities in Women and Gender Studies, Political Science, and Global Development at the University of Toronto. This event is supported by the Office of the Dean of Arts.
