CREation is a multi-level funding program that supports strengths-based, community-focused and youth-led projects taking place in communities across Canada. Peace and Friendship Longhouse Build & Teachings

Join the Tatamagouche Centre on Thursday, August 4, 2022, from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM at their Peace and Friendship gathering. This event is focused on building a longhouse through longhouse teachings with Wabanaki Elders. The weekend will include a ceremony, a sacred circle and widening the circle of Indigenous and settler youth engagement in Indigenous rights and in living as treaty people. Acknowledging the land, and value the gifts and teachings which come to us through our relations with different ages, ancestry, colour, belief, place of origin, and races. The teachings of respect, relationships, responsibility, and reverence will be offered so that the younger generation may continue and strengthen the circle of understanding and caring. On August 27, join the Tatamagouche Centre from 5 PM until 7:30 PM for an evening of delicious local food with local musicians and drinks! Megan Miller, Hospitality and Local Relations, is leading this event. Tickets are $30 (true cost), however, we have pay-what-you-can tickets for those who might face financial barriers. Oxfam Canada’s Her Future Her Choice SRHR Community Funding Initiative

Oxfam Canada has the funding to raise awareness in Canada about sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR).

Call for applications now open for Oxfam Canada’s Her Future Her Choice sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) community funding initiative! If you are between the ages of 18-29 years old, you can receive up to $5,000 in funding for your public engagement initiative to draw attention to the SRHR issues that are important to you and your community. We welcome applications on a range of SRHR issues, with special consideration being given to applications focused on: abortion or abortion access; SRHR initiatives led by and for BIPOC communities; SRHR initiatives led by and for trans and non-binary communities; and sex worker rights led by sex workers. Application deadline is July 22, 2022!

As part of our #Tuesdays4Justice campaign, we share resources that can be accessed and used to spark discussions and thought on how to be better allies, and move towards anti-racism in development work locally and globally. Indigenous Youth Virtual Internship Program

Atlantic Council for International Cooperation (ACIC) has this opportunity below.

Gain professional experience in the international development sector! Work virtually with international organizations in Kenya, Guyana or Cambodia and build skills for your resume. Learn about global issues and the Sustainable Development Goals while connecting with a youth network across Canada.

Scholarships for Canadian academics, students and professionals: Canada-China Scholars’ Exchange Program, 2022-2023

 

Global Affairs Canada and the Chinese Ministry of Education are offering short-term scholarships to Canadians wishing to study abroad in China. Scholarships are awarded for studies, research, language studies or a combination of studies and language studies at participating Chinese institutions.

 

  • Program name: Canada-China Scholars’ Exchange Program

  • Funding organizations: Global Affairs Canada and the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China

  • Target audiences: Canadian students (college, undergraduate and graduate levels in Canada); Canadian faculty members and research staff at a post-secondary institution in Canada; Canadian mid-career professionals

  • Number of scholarships: Over 20

  • Duration: 4 to 12 months for students; and 8 weeks to 12 months for faculty members and mid-career professionals

Virtual Exchange in Lebanon, Fall 2020/Winter 2021

Study Arabic Online at the Arabic Language and Culture Program of Lebanese American University this fall or winter!

SINARC, the Arabic language and culture program at the Lebanese American University (LAU), offers intensive courses in Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) and the Levantine dialect at all levels. The program’s unique success is underpinned by academic rigor, cultural immersion and personalized attention.

Study Arabic Online is a new SINARC program that simulates a classroom setting using all the latest tools for effective virtual language acquisition. The program provides a number of credit-based and non-credit based course options on various levels for students interested in Arabic as a second language only and not toward earning a degree at LAU. All courses are organized and divided according to ACTFL standards and are delivered using various online learning platforms.

Cultural immersion experiences include virtual excursions, tours and films about:

Take part in Virtual International Programme “VIP” at  Justus Liebig University Giessen this fall!

The VIP invites international students from JLU Giessen’s partner universities from around the world to undertake a virtual exchange stay at JLU and to gain international study experience to complement your Saint Mary’s degree program. Participating students can choose one or more seminars and lectures, taught completely online. This offer includes around 60 online courses from different JLU departments at undergraduate and graduate level, held in German, English, French or Spanish language. As the offer is part of the regular JLU curriculum, international students enrolled will benefit from an international learning environment.

Participate in the International Joint Online Seminar, “2020 Post-Corona Global Society: Our New Path to the Sustainable Development Goals” with University of Niigata Prefecture this fall!

Based on the ongoing central theme “Globalization and Local Development”, the Seminar aims to provide participating students with a forum to work together to consider how the pandemic will affect international society and what we as individuals can and should do.

Dates:

(1) Prior learning: From mid-October to early November *Video lectures (4 x 20 min) *Sharing ideas about the topics presented in the videos by using SNS

(2) Group work & Group presentation: November 14 (3-4 hours between 10:00 and 16:00 Japan time (Tentative)

Seminar offerings: “2020 Post-Corona Global Society: Our New Path to the Sustainable Development Goals” -- Video lectures, orientation, daily instructions on activities, online group work and presentations will be in English.

Delivery: Videos are delivered asynchronously. Group work and presentation are conducted synchronously.
