We are pleased to announce that the UNP International Online Seminar will be held as an alternative event for the summer seminar in response to the spread of COVID-19.
The theme of this year’s seminar is Japan in the 21st Century: History, Economy, Culture, Society, Education, IT, and Well-being. The transition from the 20th Century brought with it many societal changes. In addition, two pandemic years exposed large gaps in societal systems and pushed us to find new ways to bridge some of those gaps. Against the current social backdrop of global political and economic crises the need to create venues for mutual understanding and cooperation is clear.
In this international online seminar, we will present a variety of issues that Japan is facing as we advance through the second decade of the 21st century. The seminar includes snapshots from UNP faculty members representing three different academic fields (three short live lectures and opportunities for Q & A-). Then, using online tools, groups made up of students from a variety of universities and countries will sharetheir ideas about the topics presented and the questions raised in the lectures. Next, groups will use video meeting software to collaborate in group work to prepare for and deliver a presentation.
