Hanken and LUSEM Nordic Winter School

Hanken School of Economics in Finland offers a Winter School 16-27 January 2023 with their long-standing Nordic partner - Lund University School of Economics and Management (LUSEM) in Sweden.

The Winter School explores opportunities for addressing big societal challenges and discusses how we can contribute to developing more equal, resilient and sustainable societies. 

It consists of two modules;

  • one delivered by LUSEM; The Darkness of Business (16-20 January)

  • one by Hanken Sustainability and Innovation of Money and Banking (23-27 January)

The modules are at the bachelor level. It is not possible to take only one of the courses.

IDRC - International Doctoral Research Awards 2022

Universities Canada announces the launching of the 2022 IDRC International Development Research Awards (IDRA).  The program is intended to build capacity and develop research skills in Canada and the Global South to improve the lives of people in the developing world.

The objective of the project is to strengthen the capacities of emerging researchers at Canadian universities, growing the cohort of researchers able to design, lead and carry out high-quality research that contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals and specific development outcome areas of particular interest to IDRC.

This call for applications is open to Canadians, permanent residents of Canada, and citizens of developing countries pursuing doctoral studies at a Canadian university. Awards will cover the costs of field research conducted for a doctoral dissertation in one or more countries in the Global South.

The deadline for applications is Wednesday, August 31, 2022

Short-Term Intensive Japanese Program 2022 (Winter)

Rikkyo Unviersity, Japan is offering an in-person short-term Japanese program from January 9th to January 28th, 2023. The program comprises 46.7 hours of classroom instruction on Japanese language plus 25 hours of lectures on Japanese culture and society including field trips.

Upon completing the full program, participants will be given a certificate of completion and an official transcript.

Peace and Friendship Longhouse Build & Teachings

Join the Tatamagouche Centre on Thursday, August 4, 2022, from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM at their Peace and Friendship gathering. This event is focused on building a longhouse through longhouse teachings with Wabanaki Elders. The weekend will include a ceremony, a sacred circle and widening the circle of Indigenous and settler youth engagement in Indigenous rights and in living as treaty people. Acknowledging the land, and value the gifts and teachings which come to us through our relations with different ages, ancestry, colour, belief, place of origin, and races. The teachings of respect, relationships, responsibility, and reverence will be offered so that the younger generation may continue and strengthen the circle of understanding and caring. Oxfam Canada has the funding to raise awareness in Canada about sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR).

Call for applications now open for Oxfam Canada’s Her Future Her Choice sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) community funding initiative! If you are between the ages of 18-29 years old, you can receive up to $5,000 in funding for your public engagement initiative to draw attention to the SRHR issues that are important to you and your community. We welcome applications on a range of SRHR issues, with special consideration being given to applications focused on: abortion or abortion access; SRHR initiatives led by and for BIPOC communities; SRHR initiatives led by and for trans and non-binary communities; and sex worker rights led by sex workers. Atlantic Council for International Cooperation (ACIC) has this opportunity below.

Online research internship at Mykolas Romeris University, 16-20 May 2022

For the second year, Mykolas Romeris University (Lithuania) is inviting doctoral students and young researchers in social sciences and humanities to an online research internship that will take place on 16-20 May 2022. During the intensive week, you will find out about digital tools for literature search and reference management, practice your academic writing in English, get useful tips on how to successfully publish research results, develop a project proposal, communicate about your research and build your personal brand and network. Besides, you will have individual consultations on your dissertation topic with the internship supervisor, free online access to MRU Library databases.

Upon successful completion, you will be awarded an internship certificate.

The working language of the internship will be English.

Application fee: 300 Euros.

Graduate Summer 2022: University of Jyvaskyla

University of Jyväskylä, is offering its 31st Summer School https://www.jyu.fi/en/research/summer-and-winter-schools/jssfor advanced Master's students, PhD, and post-docs from the field of Mathematics and Science and Information Technology.
